DAY 1 CUSCO - Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. This exciting first day will include a visit to the city centre, the temple of the sun, Koricancha, the Cathedral of Cusco, and a visit to four nearby Incan ruins. We will overnight in Cusco.
DAY 2 SACRED VALLEY - Today we adventure to the sacred valley of the Incas, visit the traditional villages, the impressive Inca terraces of Pisac and its artisan market and the Ollantaytambo Inca Palace. In the evening we’ll settle in for an overnight in Ollantaytambo Village.
DAY 3-6 INCA TRAIL - Today we begin the Inca trail trek, starting at KM. 82. This is a four day excursion with a trek of 5,7,6,2 hours respectively. We’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains, Inca ruins, cloud forest, valleys, hundreds of orchids; several varieties of birds, colourful butterflies and finally the stone paved Inca paths. All are unforgettable experiences in the heart of the Andes.
FIRST DAY: Leaving the hotel we will begin our transfer to km 82, where we will embark on our trek. This first day we will hike for 5 hours while enjoying scenery of highlands, mountains, Glacier Rivers and forest.
SECOND DAY: Today we will hike 7 hours, all the way up to reach the highest point at Warmiwañusca 4,200m (14,700ft) which boasts a beautiful view of the Vilcabamba mountain range. After the pass, we will descend to a valley via one thousand stone steps to discover the cloud forest, with its interesting flora and fauna. This is considered the hardest day.
THIRD DAY: Today we will hike 6 hours, ascending to the second pass at 3,850m (13,475ft) and visiting Runkuracay and Sayacmarca ruins. There are great views of the cloud forest, Andean landscapes and impressive Incan paths as well as ruins which are dotted with exuberant vegetation and different varieties of birds and colourful butterflies.
FOURTH DAY: We will start early in the morning, to reach the inti punku- Sun gate. It is here we will wait for the sunrise in order to admire the first rays of light as they pass through the gate while also having a spectacular view of the archaeological sanctuary of Machupicchu. A guided tour of 3 hours will allow us to know the secrets of this Inca citadel.
An optional 1 hour hike can be arranged to the top of the Huaynapicchu Mountain, a pyramidal shape peak at the background of Macchupicchu ruins, which has a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Advance booking is needed as only 400 people per day are permitted to climb.
In the afternoon we will take the train back to Cusco where we will overnight.
DAY 7 Cusco - Today we transfer you to your next connection and send well wishes for a safe and happy journey.
